History and Nature Combined The adventure begins as we cruise past the historic Christiansholm Fortress. You will get a great view of the old stone walls and cannons that have guarded the city and the river mouth for centuries. As we leave the harbor behind and glide up the river, the landscape changes completely. We enter a peaceful world surrounded by fascinating mountains covered in lush green forests. The trees reflect in the calm, clear water, creating a beautiful emerald atmosphere. Wildlife and Heritage Keep your eyes open as you navigate the river. If you are lucky, it is possible to see wild salmon jumping near the boat. Especially during the summer months (June to August), you might witness a glimpse of the salmon’s incredible journey as they migrate up the river to spawn. This waterway also has a rich history. In former times, the Otra was used for log floating. It served as the main transport route for heavy timber, floating logs from the deep forests down to the coast to build ships and houses.
